Twenty-thousand copies of the educational brochure, Professional A/C Service and Repair have been distributed through Mobile Air Conditioning Society member shops, association and corporate partners.
Copies also went to inquiries generated by media reports since it was first introduced at the 2003 MACS convention and trade show in January.
The brochure was the result of a collaboration of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide. The publication provides guidelines for consumers when their mobile A/C system requires repair. It also covers the environmental importance of professional mobile A/C service and repair.
"MACS leadership is showing consumers that professional A/C repair protects the environment and saves them money," said Stephen Andersen, director of EPA Strategic Climate Projects. "MACS is also showing EPA how to secure ozone and climate protection in ways that support the prosperity of automotive repair businesses and their suppliers."
Copies of the brochure are available from MACS Worldwide by calling (215) 631-7020, or through email request at info@macsw.org.
Association partners endorsing the brochure’s message on professional mobile A/C service and repair include the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Assn. and the Service Technician’s Society. Corporate partners include ACDelco, Airsept, Audi, Behr, Bergstrom, BMW, CalsonicKansei, Centro Ricerche Fiat, Clore, DaimlerChrysler, Delphi Product and Service Solutions, Denso, DuPont Fluoroproducts, Eaton, Four Seasons, Freightliner, General Motors, Goodyear, Honda, Hyundai, Johnson Controls, Konvekta, Mitsubishi, Modine, Nissan, Neutronics, Parker-Hannifin, Sanden, Snap-on Diagnostics, SPX Robinair, Subaru, Texas Instruments, Toyota, Tracer Products, Transpro, TYC Genera, Uview Ultraviolet Systems, Valeo, Visteon Corporation, Volkswagen and Volvo Car Corp.
Founded in 1981, MACS is the leading nonprofit trade association for the mobile air conditioning, heating and engine cooling system segment of the automotive aftermarket. MACS represents 1,600 members in North America and 47 countries around the world, and provides information and services to more than 60,000 industry shops, suppliers and technicians.
The society serves the industry through informational tools, self-paced educational materials, leader-led training clinics, advocacy and other member services.
