Edify Corp., Santa Clara, Calif., announced it has completed Phase 1 implementation of its Voice and Speech platform for Landstar Systems Inc., the truckload giant based in Jacksonville, Fla.
“With just a little more than a week's notice that our load notification paging service was going to be shut down, we were facing an event that could absolutely disrupt our business," said Dave Hesford, director of voice communications at Landstar Systems Inc.
Landstar wanted to deploy a centrally managed speech-based application to automate its load notification process, giving its fleet of independent carriers a detailed call regarding available loads. Edify's solution was able to provide specifics about load size, type and location that allowed drivers to match opportunities without requiring a phone call to a Landstar dispatcher.
This saved valuable time at both ends of Landstar's operations and, as it began the overhaul of its entire enterprise communications platform, Landstar realized an immediate and significant return on its technology investment.
Landstar's carrier group includes Landstar Gemini Inc., Landstar Inway Inc., Landstar Ligon Inc. and Landstar Ranger Inc. Landstar's multimodal group is comprised of Landstar Express America Inc. and Landstar Logistics Inc.
Edify delivers voice and speech applications.
