Roy Jackson, owner of the 3-year-old thoroughbred, Barbaro, that won the 2006 running of the Kentucky Derby, took home a big chunk of the race’s purse. But the horse owner also gets to take home a new

$135,000 International RXT truck – built to his specifications.
The presentation of the RXT truck to the Derby-winning owner reflects a growing commitment by the International Truck and Engine Corp. as a corporate partner for Churchill Downs and America’s premier racing event, the Kentucky Derby.
The RXT is a five-ton, 22-foot long commercial pickup truck introduced in 2005 by International. The winning Kentucky Derby owner will be presented with a special model that features a fifth wheel towing package for hauling horse trailers. This version of the International RXT was designed with the demands and needs of the horse industry in mind.
“The Kentucky Derby is one of the world’s most exciting sports events and International’s decision to strengthen its corporate partnership with Churchill Downs reflects the company’s appreciation of the Derby’s value and importance,” said Jim Gates, general manager of Churchill Downs.
The International RXT stands eight feet tall and seats five. It features an eight-foot bed, a towing capacity of more than 11 tons and commercial hydraulic brakes for stopping large loads or horse trailers.
“A Kentucky Derby winner knows a thing or two about horsepower, so the 310-horsepower RXT should be an appropriate extra incentive to win the race,” said David Johanneson, group vice president of sales and distribution for the International Truck Group. “This truck is ideal for the equestrian market and we’re proud to be a part of such a prestigious tradition like the Kentucky Derby.”
