Qualcomm Inc., a leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, has announced that Georgia-Pacific has selected Qualcomm's Code Division Multiple Access (CMA)
digital wireless communications solution.
Georgia-Pacific, a leading manufacturer of tissue, packaging, paper, building products, pulp and related chemicals, has signed a contract with Qualcomm to equip 300 of its vehicles with Qualcomm's OmniExpress mobile communications system and MVPc in-vehicle computers with the FleetAdvisor on-board mobile applications.
"Qualcomm has delivered powerful fleet tracking and management products and services to private fleets for over 10 years," said Glynn Spangenberg, vice president of transportation and logistics business operations for Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions. "We are pleased to offer Georgia-Pacific a complete driver productivity solution."
"In being able to manage our distribution resources and performance data in real-time, we are experiencing significant savings by reducing operational costs, while providing superior customer service and improving on-time delivery performance," said Jeff Houston, national logistics and fleet manager for Georgia-Pacific.
