Delphi Corp. announced Monday that it has opened a new manufacturing facility in Izmir, Turkey.

Located in the Aegean Free Zone, Delphi will manufacture diesel fuel systems technologies in the 15,000-square-meter facility. These products include unit and cassette pumps with one to four cylinders, complete injectors, injection nozzles, fuel pump components and valves.
Guy C. Hachey, vice president of Delphi Corp. and president of Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems, and Dominique Chauvin, managing director of Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems Europe, welcomed customers, government officials and media at the opening ceremony.
"We're very pleased to extend our important diesel activities in Turkey," said Hachey. "In addition to its own automotive industry, Turkey's proximity to automotive production centers in Europe and Near East make it a very suitable region of investment for Delphi. Moreover, the qualified workforce and competitive production costs have been influential in our decision to extend Delphi's European production base to Turkey."
Delphi's three business sectors include Dynamics and Propulsion; Safety, Thermal and Electrical Architecture; and Electronics & Mobile Communication. Delphi has approximately 191,000 employees and operates more than 175 wholly owned manufacturing sites, 42 joint ventures, 53 customer centers and sales offices and 32 technical centers in 41 countries.
