The Commercial Vehicle Systems Group of Dana Corporation has announced plans to move the assembly of trailer axles, brakes, suspension systems and ride and control systems from its Montgomery, Ala., facility to its Lugoff, S.C. facility.
Lugoff has more than 16 years of experience in assembling advanced chassis modules and systems. This state-of-the art facility has an infrastructure tailored to the manufacture of complete assemblies, supporting the division's growth plans in the further development of integrated ride and control systems. In addition, the facility provides ample capacity for anticipated growth.
"This action reflects the continuing evolution taking place in the trailer industry from component manufacturing to complete module and system assembly. Manufacturing efficiencies, coupled with the need to serve our customers' needs, led to the decision to move these assembly operations to the Lugoff facility and to close the Montgomery facility," said Norm Boisvert, vice president, Commercial Vehicle Systems. "Lugoff is a state-of-the art facility with an infrastructure tailored to the manufacture of complete assemblies that support our growth plans for the further development of integrated ride and control systems."
