Cummins Inc. announced at the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville Wednesday that it has received orders for more than 12,000 of its engines meeting the October '02 EPA emissions.
With more than 4,200 engines already in service, Cummins says it now has more emissions-compliant engines in service than any heavy duty engine manufacturer.
Fleets such as C.R. England, Celadon, Central Trucking Inc., First Fleet, Southeastern Freightlines, Summitt Trucking LLC and Yanke Group of Cos. have placed orders adding up to thousands of engines.
"These engines are proving their performance and reliability, and customers are pleased with what they see," said Tom Kieffer, Cummins executive director of marketing. "With more than 37 million miles already -- and orders increasing -- customers' experience and confidence are growing exponentially every day."
The Cummins Uptime Guarantee has eliminated risk for fleets by ensuring that if an engine failure occurs and is not fixed within 24 hours, Cummins will reimburse the cost of a rental truck for up to three days.
Cummins Inc. designs, manufactures, distributes and services engines and related technologies, including fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emissions solutions and electrical power generation systems. Headquartered in Columbus, Ind. Cummins serves its customers through more than 500 company-owned and independent distributor locations in 131 countries and territories.
With 24,900 employees worldwide, Cummins reported sales of $5.9 billion in 2002.
