The countdown is under way for one of the longest running truck shows in the United States.

The 40th annual edition of the International Trucking Show gets under way Wednesday and runs through Friday in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The question some are asking with the recent downturn in trucking -- will there be anyone there? Show officials say they are confident attendance numbers will be good.
ITS Management President Roger Sherrard says the show has almost 600 exhibitors and organizers are expecting 30,000 in total attendance.
Sherrard said the trucking industry downturn has affected ITS by not having quite as many exhibitors lined up as there were last year, but he also notes "preregistration numbers are very similar to last year and the quality seems to be better."
"I think what’s happening is that you’re getting the people that are very serious about their business coming to the show and find out what it takes to improve their profitability," he said.
Today a truck parade is scheduled to run down the Las Vegas Strip at 2 p.m. From there truckers will move to the convention center parking lot for the Show & Shine truck beauty contest, part of the Stars & Stripes Show Truck Series sponsored by Chevron. Drivers will compete for cash, trophies and plaques. The deadline to enter is 10 a.m. Wednesday, right before judging begins. The winners will be announced Friday morning.
Also during ITS there will be free prizes handed out, educational seminars, entertainment and more.
Truckers heading to the show can find plenty of on-site parking across the street from the convention center, and there will be free truckstop shuttle service Wednesday through Friday from the nearby TA, Wild Wild West, Flying J and Pilot truckstops as well as from a number of hotels.
