Mack Trucks Inc. announced that the 2,000th Mack highway vehicle rolled off the line at the New River Valley truck assembly facility this week.

The milestone at the Dublin, Va. plant marks a significant manufacturing achievement for the company, coming just six months after Mack ended production of CH and Vision highway models at its facility in Winnsboro, S.C.
The last Mack vehicle came off the line in Winnsboro Nov. 8, 2002, and the plant was closed on Nov. 15. Less than three weeks later, the first Mack vehicle built at New River Valley was driven off the plant's new Area South line for delivery.
Mack production at NRV has progressively increased since then, reaching the current 36 units a day on May 1.
"The 2,000-truck milestone, together with the ramp-up in Mack production rates and the reaction of our customers to both the plant and the products being produced there, are all indicative of how successful this transition has been," said Paul Vikner, Mack president and CEO.
Mack is one of North America's largest producers of heavy-duty trucks, and Mack vehicles are sold and serviced in more than 45 countries worldwide.
Mack is a member of the Volvo Group, a publicly held company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden.
