ATA Truck Tonnage Index Increased 0.9% in March

The American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index gained 0.9% in March after decreasing 0.7% in February. Tonnage has now increased in four of the last five months.

March Trailer Orders Down, Cancellations Negligible

Net trailer orders for March were down 6% month-over-month and 12% year-over-year. This update on industry performance was reported in the latest State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers published by ACT Research Co. “Although orders are down, the orders being placed appear genuine, as cancellation activity has been negligible for most trailer categories,” said Frank Maly, director-CV Transportation with ACT Research.
