Freightliner Trucks now offers ConMet PreSet aluminum wheel hubs as standard on several heavy-duty vehicles.
Freightliner Makes Aluminum Wheel Hubs Standard

The hubs are optional on other medium and heavy duty trucks in the product line. The PreSet wheel hubs are designed to offer improved seal and bearing life, simplified installation and reduced maintenance requirements.
Freightliner offers the ConMet PreSet aluminum hubs as a standard component on the Freightliner Century Class S/T, Columbia, Coronado, Classic XL, Classic and Argosy truck models. The PreSet hubs are optional for the Business Class M2 106 and 112 and the FLD120SD models.
The PreSet aluminum hubs utilize pre-adjusted bearings for improved vehicle performance and extended life cycles. The PreSet hubs never need adjustments due to precision-ground spacers that provide a fixed dimensional bearing adjustment.
PreSet hubs require less maintenance and are more cost-effective than unitized systems.
The PreSet design uses standard hubs with replaceable bearings and seals, so only individual components need to be replaced when they become worn or damaged. The PreSet hubs also feature extended-life wheel seals.
Another advantage of the precision-machined PreSet wheel hub is realized weight savings. The aluminum alloy hubs are lighter than iron hubs, which decreases chassis weight and increases payload and profitability.
ConMet PreSet aluminum hubs are available for 10,000- to 14,700-pound FF steer and pusher/tag axles, 20,000-pound FL steer axles and R-series drive and pusher/tag axles.
