Pegasus TransTech Inc., Tampa, Fla., has introduced a new feature to its TRANSFLO Express truck stop scanning service that enables drivers to transmit critical documents to their fleets using any fax machine or scanning-enabled personal computer.

Drivers would be able scan documents and send them from virtually any fax machine or computer and scanner connected to the Internet. The document can be in the form of a fax or a graphic attached to an email.
For example, a driver can now scan and send documents from a shipper or consignee office, a public fax machine or – if he has a laptop computer, a portable scanner and a truckstop wi-fi connection – from his own truck cab.
The service is for existing TRANSFLO fleet customers; a driver would need to have the necessary bar code included in the fax or email.
The feature is already in use and is immediately available to any fleet signed on to Pegasus’ TRANSFLO Express truckstop scanning service. Participating fleets receive all of their delivery documents in a standard format, regardless of a document’s method of transmission. Bills of lading and other critical trip documents are processed through Pegasus TransTech’s secure, redundant data centers and transmitted to fleets as digital images ready for immediate payroll and billing processing.
Hines said the new service was developed in large part based on feedback from drivers and owner-operators.
“Owner-operators in particular are changing how they do business on the road,” said Chris Hines, president of Pegasus TransTech’s transportation group. “On-board PCs and scanning devices are becoming much more common, as are wi-fi zones in truck stops and other locations. We saw an opportunity to help drivers and owner operators leverage the full array of technologies at their disposal — and by doing so, enhance their ability to get paid faster.”
