PeopleNet and Melton Provide Automated Messaging
PeopleNet Communications, Chaska, Minn., has announced that Horizon Fleet Management software from Melton Technologies now offers Automated Messagin

through PeopleNet mobile communications services.
PeopleNet's Automated Messaging allows fleets to automate routine messages,
such as arrivals and departures, and highlight exceptions across the load cycle. The capability replaces conventional business processes that require drivers to manually communicate with dispatchers. Automated Messaging is a component of PACOS, a series of solutions focused on automating fleet activities
Among the first fleets to use the integrated capability is North Carolina-based Tidewater Transit, which has more than 200 vehicles, 12 terminals and a team of 20 dispatchers.
Tidewater is automating daily check calls used for arrival and departure notification. Its shippers and receivers have been assigned a geo-fence, so as trucks arrive and depart, messages are sent to the company's Horizon dispatch System automatically. When a driver is stopped at a shipper for a certain period of time, the onboard computer will prompt him with a loaded form to complete. If a driver falls behind his ETA, the dispatcher will start seeing exception notifications.
Melton Technologies is a privately held software development company specializing in transportation software for small to mid-sized fleet operators. MTI is a leader in mobile communication integration. MTI offers a full range of software for the trucking industry.
