Landstar Selects SkyBitz for Trailer Tracking

has selected SkyBitz's GLS Services for its trailer tracking.
Landstar, based in Jacksonville, Fla., has ordered SkyBitz Mobile Terminals for retrofit installations, and has specified the SkyBitz terminals on some of its new trailers being built and delivered during the first half of 2003.
SkyBitz's GLS is a global, satellite-based tracking and monitoring service that has initially been launched in the North American commercial freight transportation market. According to SkyBitz, this wireless technology surpasses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, bringing dramatic improvements in cost, coverage, power consumption and ease of installation.
GLS was designed from the ground up to serve the transportation industry, and will be used on truck trailers, rail cars and cargo containers to pinpoint the location of both tethered and un-tethered assets.
