Comdata announced the commercial availability of its CabCard Personal Communication services; a jointly-developed service of Comdata and Qualcomm.
CabCard is a pre-paid service providing driver e-mail, long distance telecommunications, and voice mail capabilities. More than 100 of the nation's premiere fleets have already elected to offer CabCard services, powered by Comdata, to their driver workforce; the first in a series of CabCARD-based product initiatives Comdata and QUALCOMM expect to introduce.
"We are very encouraged by the rapid adoption of the CabCARD platform, and believe it will lead to a new standard in reliable, mobile communications technology for our nation's truckload carriers," said Frank Adelman, Comdata executive vice president, Transportation Services.
Using CabCard, drivers can send messages using Qualcomm's OmniTracs, TruckMail or OmniExpress mobile communications system. Messages are routed directly to the driver's Qualcomm device, eliminating the need for fleet involvement with integration, billing and reconciliation issues.
CabCard messaging and telecommunications services are the first in a series of initiatives planned for the CabCard platform.
"In coming months, we plan to introduce CabCard services that will enhance the way fleets distribute mission-critical information to their operations," said Adelman. "There are many ways fleets can reduce manually-intensive procedures using the CabCard platform."
