IRD To Sell Siemens System In North America
Saskatchewan's International Road Dynamics is teaming up with with Siemens VDO Automotive of Dearborn, Mich., to provide Siemens' VDO-FM fleet management on-board computers and related diagnostic software for the North American commercial vehicle marketplace
Saskatchewan's International Road Dynamics is teaming up with with Siemens VDO Automotive of Dearborn, Mich., to provide Siemens' VDO-FM fleet management on-board computers and related diagnostic software for the North American commercial vehicle marketplace.
IRD will provide systems integration of the VDO systems with complementary vehicle management sensors and Identec Solutions' communication systems, as well as installation and after-sales support.
The Siemens' VDO-FM systems are installed inside the cabs of trucks and other commercial vehicle fleets. The system, consisting of an in-cab reporting system as well as a number of in-vehicle sensors and an RF transmitter, assists drivers and fleet managers to monitor a number of performance measures. This data can be provided in both real-time and as a data download for historic reporting and analysis of driver performance. The systems enhance fleet performance while improving the safety and security of vehicle operations, according to the company. The system was introduced in Europe in 1998.
In a separate agreement, IRD has engaged Innovative Transportation Solutions of Rogers, Ark., to sell the system in North America.
The announcement was made at the Transportation Research Board conference this week in Washington DC.
IRD is a highway traffic management technology company specializing in supplying products and systems to the global Intelligent Transportation Systems industry.
