Magellan, a portable GPS navigation consumer electronics company, is bringing its technology to commercial vehicles with the Magellan RoadMate Commercial 5190T GPS navigator.

The 5190T, available beginning in Spring 2012, is designed specifically for commercial vehicles and includes features such as real-time traffic alerts, customized routing, multiple driver login, extra-loud speakers and wireless Bluetooth technology.

With the 5190T, drivers have customized routing, multi-stop planning and route optimization capabilities. The multiple driver login function allows drivers to keep track of hours of service and state mileage for IFTA fuel records. This information can be exported for convenient compliance reporting.

The product, which has a 5-inch high definition touchscreen, also comes with an IPX-50 dustproof casing and an A/V input to connect external devices such as a back-up camera. It also includes 2D or 3D viewing, automatic rerouting, more than 6-million points of interest (including highway exit POIs) and a truck stop directory that lists amenities for each location.

"Extra clear to be seen and extra loud to be heard in the commercial vehicle environment, the Commercial 5190T GPS is packed with truck-specific features and information beneficial to commercial vehicle drivers," says Magellan GPS director of product marketing Sunnie Tsai.

The unit has an MSRP of $379.99 and comes with a cradle, cradle mount adapter plate and screw, windshield mount, vehicle power adapter, USB cable and a quick-start guide.
