TravelCenters of America has confirmed it will soon begin installing on-island Diesel Exhaust Fluid dispensers. TA expects to install about fifty on-island DEF pumps at locations across the country in 2011.
Installations will use new dispensers and point-of-sale systems to make purchasing DEF quicker, more efficient and customer friendly.
Sites will feature dedicated DEF dispensers at the fueling islands, while storage tanks will be installed away from the fuel island.
TA says it has worked closely with key industry players to bring its customers the best solution for their DEF needs.
"The technology we will employ integrates the DEF dispenser with our point of sale and other systems so that drivers can purchase fuel and diesel exhaust fluid in a single transaction, and TA is the first travel center chain to bring this capability to market," noted Thomas M. O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters of America.
All 228 TA and Petro locations currently offer 2.5 gallon containers of DEF. It's available at the fuel desk, the travel store and truck maintenance counters, as well as through the company's RoadSquad emergency roadside vehicles.
TA's on-island DEF dispenser installations will further add to current capacity. The first five locations to be equipped with DEF dispensers are the TA TravelCenters in Lodi, Ohio and Nashville, Tenn. (reopening February 2011), and the Petro Stopping Centers in Spokane, Wash., Kingman, Ariz. and El Paso, Texas.
TA and Petro were the first national chains to offer DEF at all locations. Further, because nearly all TA and Petro locations offer extensive truck maintenance services, TA expects to offer DEF top-off services as part of routine preventive maintenance, or PM service to vehicles that use DEF.
