Stemco says its new CentriFuse HD brake drums designed for severe service applications provide up to double the service life of full-cast brake drums.

The CentriFuse HDs are designed to increase performance and safety for both on and off highway use, including logging, concrete, dump and refuse hauling, according to the company.

“We developed the CentriFuse HD brake drums based on extensive analysis of our customers’ trucking needs and applications,” said Jim Reis, vice president and GM at Stemco. “The result is a product that provides an unmatched combination of weight savings, service life and stopping power.”

The CentriFuse HD is rated to 26,000 pounds per axle and weighs 100-111 pounds depending on the size of the brake. Stemco says its CentriFuse HD brake drums are the lightest severe-service drums in the industry and feature patented alloy braking surface and steel jacket technology.

Unlike full-cast drums, Stemco says, CentriFuse HD is an engineered product. The patented high-alloy braking surface provides superior heat absorption, resulting in reduced brake fade and wear.

The CentriFuse HD brake drums come in a red jacket color and are available in 16.5-inch by 7-, 8- and 8.62-inch sizes.
