Kenworth Truck Company is celebrating its milestone 90th anniversary during 2013. It all began in 1923 when Harry W. Kent and Edgar K. Worthington incorporated the Gersix Motor Company as “Kenworth." The company name was formed from a combination of letters from the founders’ last names.
That first year, the small Seattle truck manufacturer produced 78 six-cylinder, gasoline-powered trucks. Since then, Kenworth has produced more than 900,000 trucks.

Sheila M. Horwith, CEO and secretary of Horwith Trucks Inc. in Northampton, Pa., was a 2013 ATD/HDT Truck Dealer of the Year nominee. She sells Freightliner and Western Star trucks.

Scott Oliphant, president of Kenworth of South Louisiana in Gray, La., was a 2013 ATD/HDT Truck Dealer of the Year nominee. He sells Kenworth and Hino trucks.

Todd Schaub, dealer principal of S&S Volvo in Lima, Ohio, was a nominee for the 2013 ATD/HDT Truck Dealer of the Year award. He sells Volvo, Isuzu, UD and GMC trucks.

Brad Wilson, president of Sioux City Truck Sales in Sioux City, Iowa, was a nominee for the ATD/HDT 2013 Truck Dealer of the Year award. He sells Peterbilt trucks.

Steve Bacalis, president and CEO of Tom Nehl Truck Co. in Jacksonville, Fla., was the Finalist for the 2013 ATD/HDT Truck Dealer of the Year. Tom Nehl sells Freightliner, Western Star, Sprinter, Volvo, Isuzu, and Capacity of Texas.

Andrew "Drew" Linn Jr., president of Southland International Trucks in Homewood, Ala., is the 2013 winner of the ATD/HDT Truck Dealer of the Year competition.

A record breaking number of exhibiting suppliers and independent HD distributors participated in the 8th annual Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW ’13) in Las Vegas Jan. 21-24.

The upcoming full-size Transit van will be offered with two gasoline V-6 engines and an inline 5-cylinder diesel.
The full-size Transit will gradually replace the popular and long-running E-series when the new-to-North America Euro-style van goes into production at Ford's refitted Kansas City, Mo., plant late in 2013.
