Daimler Trucks North America unveiled its Freightliner Inspiration Truck, an autonomous truck licensed for Nevada highways, in grand scale at the Hoover Dam after projecting past, present and future milestones on the dam itself. The Inspiration Truck drove across the dam as the finale.

Mid-America Trucking Show, Day 3

Saturday at Mid-America is usually the biggest day, but it turned out to be not quite as big as everyone expected. While the crowds were stronger than expected on Friday, numbers were down on Saturday. That was good news for show-goers, as it was actually possible to walk the aisles and get close to the trucks. Equipment Editor Jim Park spent the day wandering the show and took these photos.

Mid-America Trucking Show, Day 2

Day 2 of MATS got off to a sunny but cold start -- a pleasant change from Day 1, when rain spoiled the day for anyone outdoors. Exhibitors seemed to think the crowds on the first full day of the show were better than any in recent years.

MATS Pre-Show

Wednesday, March 25, the day before the Mid-America Trucking Show opened officially at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center in Louisville, Ky., the trucking press gathered for media day and the MATS Fleet Forum educated fleet and supplier attendees on topics such as the economy and autonomous trucks, while HDT honored its 2015 Truck Fleet Innovators.

Goodyear's San Angelo Proving Grounds

Goodyear has a 7,000 acre testing and proving grounds in San Angelo, Texas, about 300 miles southwest of Dallas. Heavy Duty Trucking spent a day there in early March observing some of the tests and learning about the company's latest FuelMax tires.

Ford F-750 Tonka Dump Truck

The Ford F-750 Tonka, which is built on the 2016 Ford F-750, was created by Ford and Tonka. It's powered by a 6.7l Power Stroke V-8 diesel engine with working dump body from Truck Tech Engineers and a 33,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating.
