Show Trucks Ready for PKY at Mid-America

Chrysanne Henry of Brigham City, Utah, digs deep into a front wheel hub with a Q-tip to get out the even the tinyest bits of grease and dirt.

Several COEs were on display -- we counted seven -- including this gorgeous Pete.

The sign on the hood says 800 hp CAT. Can't imagine this owner-operator looses much sleep over fuel economy.

You don't see many COEs on the road anymore, but fans of that style of truck can still get an eyeful at a truckshow.

More than 70 trucks were on site by late afternoon Wednesday. More will be arriving toward the end of the week. It's a very good turn out so far this year.

Better not let DOT see this one.

Even as the sun was setting, the participants were still polishing and making last-minute touch up to the paint

The driver of this truck was working inside. It's a no boot zone, at least until after the judging takes place.

The artwork on the hood reveals what's under the hood. It's a air brushed pait job, not a clear hood. And a pretty good paint job it is.

Doug Jameson of J&L Contracting applies a little elbow grease to one of the wheels on his float trailer.

Applying a little paint to those hard-to-get-at areas. The judges don't miss a trick, so competitors need be on top of their game.

While most of the show truck are late-model long-nose trucks, you can't help but notice the classic trucks.

We got out to the show and shine area just as the sun was dipping below the buildings. Even that late in the day the cleaning and polishing was going on at a brisk pace.
