Prime Inc. opened a new 61,000-square-feet building at its Salt Lake City terminal packed with amenities for their truck drivers and other employees. The aim? To recruit and retain employees in a tough job market.

The new building includes a salon, spa, daycare, gym, private bunk rooms, basketball court, healthcare, lounge and a cafe serving 2,500 meals each week to recruit and retain associates seeking a unique opportunity in Salt Lake City’s competitive job market, Prime officials said in a press release.

At the new building, Prime associates have access to healthcare and a sleep lab. In addition, associates can work out with a personal trainer for free. As part of the company’s wellness program, trainers also provide customized workouts to keep truck drivers active while on the long haul.

The new amenities building includes a truck driving simulator for students earning their Commercial Driver’s License through Prime’s official training program.

The new building is part of a multi-faceted effort to retain and recruit more drivers and warehouse staff in the face of one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation. Utah has a 2.9% unemployment rate, and the country is facing a years-long shortage of truck drivers.
