Billerica, Mass.-based Boyle Transportation is equipping Bendix ADB22X air disc brakes on all steer and drive axles of its fleet tractors as well as on all of its new refrigerated trailers.
Boyle transports security-sensitive cargo and highly hazardous materials, operating in the Continental U.S. and Canada. Its fleet includes 65 Freightliner trucks and 230 trailers including dry vans, flat beds, refrigerated trailers and specialized transports.
“Boyle’s customers have always demanded the highest levels of security and safe delivery, so safety has been a cornerstone over our entire 45-year history,” said Ben Curtis, Boyle’s fleet manager. “Bendix’s technology and expertise are an invaluable part of our safety-first approach to protecting everyone who shares the road.”
The Bendix ADB22X air disc brake offers straight, stable stops with improved reliability due to minimal brake fad or degradation of stopping power, according to Bendix. The brakes can also improve uptime with longer brake lining life and quicker pad replacement, leading to lower maintenance costs.
An internal self-adjustment mechanism can also help lower the risk of out-of-adjustment brakes during roadside inspections.
Boyle is also equipping trucks with Bendix lane departure warning and tire pressure monitoring systems, reduced-stopping-distance-compliant drum brake shoes, air compressors, air dryers and oil-coalescing filters. The AutoVue Lane Departure Warning System is a vision-based system that detects when a vehicle begins to drift toward an unintended lane change. AutoVue alerts include options for audible and haptic feedback.
“Every fleet faces unique challenges, and Bendix is proud to help Boyle further its long history of setting a high bar for trucking safety in a demanding environment,” said Scott Burkhart, Bendix vice president of sales, marketing, and business development.
