ZF first unveiled its ReAx steering assist system back in 2015. ReAx is simply an electric motor built onto an existing hydraulic power steering pump. Originally it was marketed as something that would make it easier to steer a truck at lower speeds, but since then the technology has become a key component in driver assist features and may someday evolve into full autonomous technology. Equipment Editor Jim Park relays his impression of the ReAx Electric Steering Assist system from a recent live demonstration.
