Mitsubishi Electric introduced its Diamond Power S60 starter as an upgrade for Freightliner and Western star trucks using Detroit DD15 and DD16 engines.

The DPS60 increases both starter and battery life through improved thermal durability and lower current draw. It is available through all North American heavy-duty truck dealers and several aftermarket distributers.

The DPS60 was developed to address a need for an alternative starter for trucks built since 2010 with a DD15 and DD16 engine.  The starter gives Mitsubishi Electric full starter coverage on nearly all Freightliner and Western Star trucks built since 1998.

The DPS60 has faster cranking speeds in cold weather from increased power and cranking torque. It features longer battery life due to a 15% reduction in current draw which results in less battery discharge while cranking.

The starter has a high-efficiency design to allow for longer cranking times as well as improved thermal durability and corrosion resistance extending its life. The DPS60 comes with a Diamond Gard warranty. Applications beyond Freightliner and Western star will be announced in the future.
