eLogs, DVIR Forms in Fleet Tracking System
Navman Wireless USA announced the addition of new electronic driver log and driver vehicle inspection reporting (DVIR) options to its OnlineAVL2 fleet tracking system for corporate fleets.

Navman Wireless USA announced the addition of new electronic driver log and driver vehicle inspection reporting (DVIR) options to its OnlineAVL2 fleet tracking system for corporate fleets that must comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) regulations. Both reports can now be completed online through a link in the Navman Wireless interface or in the field on Navman Wireless’ M-Nav 800 in-cab touchscreen navigation/message terminal for instant driver access and roadside inspection.
Electronic filing of these reports reduces paperwork, increases driver productivity, improves back-office visibility to driver hours for resource utilization and load planning, and enables immediate notification of vehicle defects without the delays associated with paper DVIR reports. Compliance benefits include automated workflow ensuring that drivers complete vehicle inspection reports, proper documentation for roadside inspections, and fewer roadside-related driver violations yielding improved compliance, safety and accountability (CSA) scores.
OnlineAVL2’s new Electronic Driver Logs option automates Hours of Service reporting required by FMCSA Part 395:15. It:
Allows drivers to sign on through their M-Nav unit using their existing driver IDs.
Automatically records Hours of Service duty status information, based on detection of vehicle motion, along with vehicle location and miles driven.
Automatically calculates remaining driver availability
Provides driver log history for roadside inspectors via the M-Nav screen.
Gives dispatchers access to driver logs, including violations, driver time, mileage summaries and driver availability, through the OnlineAVL2 system.
OnlineAVL2’s new Electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Reporting option enables drivers to electronically record the results of pre- and post-trip inspections per FMCSA regulations Part 396, section 11 and 13. It:
Automatically prompts drivers to review the previous inspection when they log on to the M-Nav.
Allows drivers to report needed repairs and deficiencies for each power unit and attached trailer(s) using their M-Nav display.
Enables customization of parts lists and common defects descriptions to speed driver documentation.
Displays reports for roadside inspectors with a tap on the M-Nav screen.
Allows maintenance technicians to review reports, enter notes, and certify that repairs have been made through the OnlineAVL2 system.
Both options are provided through a partnership with Innovative Software Engineering (ISE) and customization of its eFleetSuite compliance package to seamlessly integrate with the workflow of the OnlineAVL2 system.
