Like Volvo Trucks North America, sister OEM Mack Trucks announced at the show that this year it will start using GHG17-spec engines in the trucks it sells in Mexico.

The Freightliner 360 cabover line was intriduced two years ago as Mexico-specific vehicles. This model is equipped with a curtainsided body, which alllows fast unloading without need for a dock.

Not many truck shows are held within the shadow of an active volcano. Popocatépetl, about 40 miles from Puebla, came roaring back to life in 1994 after decades of slumber. It erupted numerous times each day of the show.

Luz Elena Jurado, ⁦managing director of Volvo Trucks Mexico, told HDT that the use of GHG17-spec engines this year in Volvo trucks sold in Mexico marks "the first time we will have the same engine technology here as in the U.S. and Canada."

This Brazil-built fully electric 268-hp VW e-Delivery 11 model is slated to go on sale in Mexico in 2021, a VW Truck and Bus Mexico spokesman at Expo Transporte told HDT.
