Daimler Trucks North America unveiled a new, environmentally friendly, nine-story headquarters building on its corporate campus in north Portland, Oregon, in 2016. We got a tour recently during Daimler's Capital Markets & Technology Day.

Steps were taken to reduce the headquarters’ energy consumption through features such as LED lighting, an intelligently controlled radiant HVAC system, and onsite renewable energy.

The lobby area and a ground floor cafe are open to the public. Among the regular visitors are neighborhood firefighters.

We spotted this issue of HDT in one of the collaborative areas. That coffee-table top is actually a white board; note the cup of write-on/wipe-off pens.

The building features a living green wall that was installed in the lobby to bring in the natural air cleaning benefits of vegetation absorbing CO2 and this green roof for storm water management.

The building received LEED Platinum certification, the highest rating that a building can receive from the U.S. Green Building Council, a nonprofit that promotes sustainable building design, construction, and operation.
