2014 Rush Truck Centers Tech Skills Rodeo





For the bus competition, technicians had the added difficulty of having to run in and out of the long trucks to reach different parts of the engine.




Belt buckles were given out to the winners of each division and trophies were awarded to the grand champions.

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart spoke at the awards dinner on the last night of the event but his likeness made an appearance on the show floor.

The Tech Skills Rodeo was held at the Henry B, Gonzalez conventions center in San Antonio, Texas.

The trucks were separated by company and division and surrounded by tools and equipment for the technicians.

Technians had to climb in and out of trucks to troubleshoot problems while they checked their work.

Each session was limited to 45 mintues which kept the pressure on for competing technicians.

The judges table was situatied in the center of the show floor.




In addition to heavy and medium duty trucks, there was also a bus division.


There was also a refuse division at the event.

The supplier expo was full of booths from parts suppliers showing off products.


Peterbilt brought a mobile exhibit with videos, engines and mock cabins to showcase the history of the brand.



NHRA Funny Car driver Tony Pedregon brought his ride out to the convention center parking lot to give everone the experience of a funny car engine.

Pedregon started the vehicle from the drivers seat while wearing a face mask for the fumes.
