The parent company of the carrier Covenant Transport and others, Covenant Transportation Group, has announced third quarter net income of $2 million compared with $1 million the same time a year ago. Company officials cited a higher unseated truck percentage and new hours of service regulations as factors.

CSX to Build New Intermodal Facility Near Pittsburgh

CSX Corp. and its transportation and intermodal terminals subsidiaries announced plans to design and build a new intermodal facility in McKees Rocks and Stowe Township, Pa., near Pittsburgh. The proposed facility will give western Pennsylvania shippers direct intermodal freight rail access.

Waste Management announced it is building a facility that will create pipeline-ready natural gas from its Milam Landfill in Fairmont City, Ill. An arbitrator ruled Friday afternoon the strike by the ILA violated a “no-strike” clause in a national master contract the union signed off on earlier in the year.
