The Board of Directors of Con-way Inc. announced a transition in board leadership in which Dr. W. Keith Kennedy, Jr., who has served as Con-way’s Chairman of the Board since 2004, will step down and be succeeded by Roy W. Templin, a current member of the company’s board.
The makers of window films are asking for an exemption from federal standards so they can sell a darker film than usually is allowed. In a Federal Register notice Thursday, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration asks for comments on the exemption sought by the International Window Film Association.

FTR’s Shippers Conditions Index conditions for November, at -6.0, continued to reflect a negative environment for shippers despite improving for the third straight month after hitting a low point in August.
December was the second biggest Class 8 order month since March 2006, with orders up roughly 50% month-over-month and year-over-year. Meanwhile, medium-duty December net orders fell month-over-month; but year-over-year orders were mixed, with Classes 6 to 7 rising 20% and Class 5 orders falling 16% against tough comparisons.
UPDATED -- Total new construction starts in the U.S. during 2013 increased 6% from the year before to $516.8 billion. This follows the 10% gain reported for 2012 and modest 2% gains in both 2010 and 2011, according to new data released from construction information services provider McGraw Hill Construction.
Love’s Travel Stops will introduce fast-fill compressed natural gas fueling capability for heavy-duty trucks and a CNG fueling option for passenger vehicles at its travel stop located on Interstate 71, at Exit 204, in Burbank, Ohio. The Love’s Fast-Fill CNG station is expected to open mid-summer 2014.
