Qualcomm's Hours of Service electronic driver logs application now integrates with TMW Systems' Innovative IES Enterprise Transportation Software. It also released its electronic vehicle inspection application, which can interface with TMW's maintenance software.

The announcements were made during TMW's annual TransForum user's conference in Grapevine, Texas.

The HOS integration will allow the synchronization of hours of service data between trucks on the road and the home office, helping fleets improve load planning and customer service. Fleet managers will have visibility into available driver hours, including 11/14 and cumulative hours, and available duty hours by color coding within the Innovative software. The Qualcomm HOS driver log report will include tractor, bill of lading and trailer information directly from the Innovative software. The integration will be part of Innovative software release 9.3, scheduled for launch in November.

In an interview, Norm Ellis, vice president of sales, services and marketing at Qualcomm, notes that the company's HOS customers have been doubling each year for the past several years and is up to more than 100,000. The integration of the application into enterprise software is something Qualcomm has been doing for larger customers; now it will be available to the approximately 600 joint customers of Qualcomm and TMW as well.

Qualcomm also announced the commercial availability of its Vehicle Inspection Report application, which gives fleets a simple, closed-loop process for completing driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRS) electronically. The application will be available on Qualcomm's Mobile Computing Platform 110 and 200 in the fourth quarter, on the MCP100 in the first quarter of 2012, and on the MCP50 when this platform is commercially launched late this year or early in 2012.

The VIR application automates the pre-trip and post-trip inspection process with simple prompts and error detection. It can help fleets ensure can integrate with maintenance software packages such as TMW's TMT Fleet Maintenance software and others.
