Dell has announced that Ruan Transportation Management Systems, one of the largest privately owned transportation service companies in the United States, has chosen to standardize on Dell servers and storage to power its backend operations.

With more than 200 facilities nationwide, Ruan is a full-service transportation management company providing services from dedicated private carriage and logistics to full-service lease and rental.
Ruan needed to replace its multiple storage systems with a more efficient platform to store critical data while maintaining a reliable IT infrastructure and lowering operating expenses. Dell worked closely with RUAN to create an architecture based on industry-standard PowerEdge servers and a Dell EMC storage area network (SAN).
The network supports a Microsoft SQL Server database for backend applications, a Microsoft Exchange cluster that powers their messaging environment, and a variety of process control applications critical to their business. RUAN uses VisualSAN software to monitor and control the SAN from a central console, as well as troubleshoot issues through online support tools. RUAN has also integrated a Dell PowerVault 770 network attached storage (NAS) server into the SAN for file sharing and to accommodate for future storage growth.
