Kansas Gov. Bill Graves is expected to sign a bill that will raise the fuel tax by 2 cents per gallon.

If it is signed, the bill will raise the diesel fuel tax to 25 cents per gallon effective July 1. The increased tax, along with other measures in the bill, is expected to raise $338 million over the next seven years to help finance road projects.
Graves, who will become president of the American Trucking Associations next year after his term as governor ends, is “likely to sign” the funding bill, although it may not be for a couple of weeks, according to ATA’s Transport topics web site.
