UPDATED -- Officials with SmartTruck fired back at testing results announced a month ago showing trailer undercarriage air deflectors result in fuel savings far less than some manufacturers are claiming, releasing its own third-party research at the American Trucking Associations' annual convention.
Vnomics announced that its driver coaching system, which analyzes each vehicle's performance to identify the potential mpg then coaches drivers in the cab to help achieve that, is now available to be used by any fleet, regardless of what in-cab computer system they may be using, through the new Core product.

ORLANDO -- LinkeDrive, a new company, says its first product, PedalCoach, helps drivers achieve better fuel economy through a smartphone or tablet app that converts complex data from the engine and other areas into a simple graphic gauge interface that coaches drivers to stay in the "green zone."

Fuel consumption of new heavy-duty vehicles could be reduced by more than a third by 2025, according to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, if the next phase of greenhouse gas/fuel economy standards pushes improvements in areas such as trailer aerodynamics and waste-heat energy recovery.
