Pennsylvania state police have issued more than 1,300 traffic citations and warnings to truckers on Interstate 80 since February.

According to The Morning Call newspaper in Allentown, Pa., the Troop Truck Crash Prevention Initiative started after a four-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer killed two people in January on I-80 near Stroudsburg. Police have since been focusing their efforts on a 5-mile stretch of I-80 between Route 209 near Stroudsburg and the New Jersey border. In January, police issued 19 safety violations citations and 17 speeding tickets to truck drivers. The next month, when the program started, where were 236 safety violations and 33 speeding tickets.
