Stemco, an EnPro Industries company, has formed a joint venture with Tramec to develop automatic brake adjusters for the commercial vehicle market.

Iola, Kan.-based Tramec owns the original Crewson automatic brake adjuster. The two will work on the Stemco Crewson product line, which will offer several inventions such as the patented "Auto Check" feature, which allows fleets to quickly and visually determine if brakes are in proper adjustment. The new product line will also feature clearance sensing; "Cam Guard," a lubrication system that eliminates seizing and corrosion; and a patented installation template used for precise installation.

As part of the deal, Stemco's 45-member fleet-based technical sales team will help customers with the selection and training on foundation brake products.

"This joint venture adds Tramec's innovative brake adjustor to STEMCO's growing brake products group," said Jon Cox, Stemco president.
