TransCore's GlobalWave data communication terminal was awarded the Department of Defense's (DoD) hazards of electromagnetic radiation to ordnance (HERO) certification, making it available to fleets responsible for transporting DoD freight.

The required status acknowledges the product has been stringently tested and proven safe around electrically initiated devices (EIDs).
The approved certification is required in order to have a product offering for this unique, yet vastly sensitive niche of cargo transportation. GlobalWave's technology offers higher security and efficiency for performing logistics services such as tracking, reporting and messaging for DoD customers and provides new alternatives for fleet managers.
"The 60 or so fleets transporting DoD explosive ordnance represent a key vertical market in which TransCore's technology can be of great service," said David Sward, TransCore's GlobalWave general manager. "Being HERO certified is in essence a DoD seal of approval for safely transmitting information around sensitive loads. It allows us to enter the market and to offer a cost-effective package for companies wanting to have the highest security measures in place."
