Toyo Tires' M137 and M657 tires are developed using Toyo Tires' e-balance technology, which can lead to improved tire life, improved endurance, improved irregular wear resistance and improved fuel consumption.

The SmartWay verified technologies program identifies products and services that reduce transportation-related emissions, including low-rolling resistance tires.

Ideal for long-haul, highway applications, the M137 and M657 tires are developed using Toyo Tires' e-balance technology, which focuses on a stiffer belt package, stiffer bead construction and optimization through simulation technology. The technology can lead to improved tire life, improved endurance, improved irregular wear resistance and improved fuel consumption, Toyo Tires says.

"These tires, along with our e-balance technology, demonstrate Toyo Tires' ongoing commitment both to the commercial trucking industry and to the environment," said Ron Gilbert, director of commercial products, Toyo Tire U.S.A.

Based on data provided by tire manufacturers and EPA testing and research, the EPA has determined that certain tire models can provide a reduction in nitrogen oxides emissions. In addition, these types of tires can result in fuel savings of 3 percent or greater, relative to the "best selling" new tires for linehaul trucks, when used on all five axles on long-haul Class 8 trucks. As a result, verified tires are required as a component on SmartWay Certified Tractors and SmartWay Certified Trailers.
