Dana Delivers Web-Based Training to Clarify Downspeeding
Dana's new online course will delve into the basic principles, benefits, and challenges associated with engine downspeeding. It also provides a one-stop source for key drivetrain system knowledge, individual component specifications, literature, videos, images, service bulletins, and parts books.
NASHVILLE -- Dana Holding Corp. will soon deliver a new online training module for dealers, fleet managers and service personnel on engine downspeeding. Dana made the announcement at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s 2015 Annual Meeting.
The course will delve into the basic principles, benefits, and challenges associated with engine downspeeding. It also provides a one-stop source for key drivetrain system knowledge, individual component specifications, literature, videos, images, service bulletins, and parts books.
"The trend toward lowering engine speed at road cruise speed has proven fuel economy advantages, but it's poses certain risks to the drivetrain," says Steve Slesinski, Dana's director of global product planning. "Increases the torque through the drivetrain. Those higher stresses create the need for better components downstream of the engine, and better ways to manage torque."
Dana’s engine downspeeding training module, available in April 2015, will be the latest in a comprehensive range of resources for more than 4,000 commercial-vehicle OEMs and dealerships across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This support includes a dedicated website to address design, specifying, training, and service needs; a dedicated call center staffed 24 hours a day, year round; and a knowledgeable field sales and service organization.
