The Show Floor of IAA In Germany

Kids accompanied by adults were welcomed at IAA. Hopefully they'll be the truck drivers of tomorrow.

Over the weekend, the show floor was particularly crowded with many different visitors.

During the Daimler press conference, Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, head of commercial vehicles on a global scale, outlined the company’s thoughts on autonomous trucks.

Chinese Fuwa, maybe the largest semi-trailer axle manufacturer in the world, displayed axles, landing gear, suspensions, fifth wheels and kingpins.

A new MAN TGX heavy haulier for 250 ton loads was introduced. It is equipped with the new 15.2 liter D38 inline six cylinder diesel engine with 640 hp.

In the Thermo King booth, Dwight Gibson, vice president of sales on EMEA markets (Europe, Middle East and Africa), gave presentations on the company’s new products.

Alcoa rolled out the lightest heavy duty truck wheel in Europe at IAA; the forged aluminum wheel, the Ultra ONE with MagnaForce alloy.

Truck-Lite Europe showed product concepts as well as upgrades to its existing LED headlamps, mirrors and trailer kits.

California-based Phillips Industries showed off its expanded global capabilities.

Meritor demonstrated the versatility of its axles, brakes and drivelines for the global trucking industry.

Upcoming Volvo partner Chinese Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles exhibited at IAA for the first time ever. On the floor were three main truck models covering medium and heavy trucks for long distance transport, medium distance transport and city transport.

A special hall for truck enthusiasts and collectors included an International LoneStar conventional - a rare sight in Europe.

The outdoor area is only a small fraction of the total IAA floor space.

DFI 21 MD/HD, with a pin of only one millimeter, is part of Delphi’s New High Pressure Direct Injection systems shown at IAA.

Eberspächer (a company you know as Espar) showed its diesel fuel-cell APU at IAA with a planned market introduction in the U.S. in 2017. According to the company, It will efficiently convert diesel fuel to electricity supplying power to on-board components like air-conditioning systems or refrigerator units.

Also at IAA like at the Mid-American Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, a true crowd-pleaser was the Western Star Optimus Prime from the recent action movie ”Transformers: Age of Extinction."

Mark Fonte of Maxion Wheels with a 22.5 inch steel rim wheel for the European market.

The new MAN 15.2 liter D38 engine was introduced this summer in 520 and 580 hp versions.

Cummins showcased this “white” engine where the red marks key components developed by Cummins.

The most crowded press conference was when Volvo Trucks president Claes Nilsson unveiled the company’s new I-Shift Dual Clutch automated transmission.

The Future Truck 2025 from Mercedes will also include a comfortable and functional working area for the driver during autonomous driving phases. The fully automated 12-speed DD12 is standard.

Hendrickson showed a mix of new and proven technologies in a broad range of suspension systems for global markets. A new version of Haulmaax, is optimized for applications up to 21 tons and adds to Hendrickson’s family of elastomeric suspension systems.

Volvo Trucks had its first truck on display in Hanover, the 1928 Jacob with a 28 hp gasoline engine.
