Focus On: Hyliion's Hybrid System On the Road [Video]

Hyliion has developed an interesting way of improving fuel economy on Class 8 tractors. The system adds an electric motor to the non-driven axle on a 6x2 setup, giving the truck a power boost when accelerating or going up a hill to improve efficiency. Equipment Editor Jim Park drove a loaded Freightliner Cascadia with Hyliion’s system in a demonstration and shares his initial thoughts on how it feels.
