BestDrive, a commercial tire retreader and distributor owned by Continental Tire, opened a new 60,000-square-foot facility in Taylor, Mich. It will serve fleet customers with new tires, retreads, casing management and other tire-related services.

The facility produces 60 retreads per day and plans to produce more than 200 per day by 2020. The outlet employs 14 people, and BestDrive plans to raise that number to more than 40 in five years. This location near Detroit is the third outlet to open in the U.S., with other locations in Memphis, Tenn., and Phoenix, Ariz.

Continental says it can provide broader support for servicing fleet customers through BestDrive outlets. In addition to large commercial truck tires, the new Michican location also  deals in Continental passenger and light truck tires for commercial fleets, Continental specialty tires, ContiPressureCheck tire pressure monitoring systems and other Continental products. BestDrive outlets also carry multiple brands of radial truck tires other than Continental-brand items.

“We’re opening BestDrive outlets in markets where key fleet customers have expressed a need for retread options,” said Clif Armstrong, managing director of BestDrive. “The Detroit area is a market that has a significant impact on our business, and this newest BestDrive location in Taylor will provide us with a strong presence to meet the needs of customers in this region.”
