Cowan Systems announced that Dennis Morgan will be the new president of the company effective Jan. 1, 2015. Morgan is leaving his current role as the company’s chief operating officer.

“I am honored to have been asked to take this role,” said Morgan. “I am committed to helping our customers and employee partners meet their ever changing needs.”

Morgan has worked for Cowan Systems for 36 years and has held various leadership roles within the company including chief financial officer and chief information officer. During his time with the company, Cowan has grown from a regional carrier to a full service logistics provider.

Morgan earned his MBA in finance from Loyola college of Maryland.

Cowan Systems is a carrier with a fleet of over 1,800 power units and 4,000 trailers and provides logistics services including dedicated assets, logistics, intermodal, warehousing and driver staffing.

“As Cowan opens this new chapter I am confident that Dennis is the right person to continue the growth of our company,” said Joseph W. Cowan, chairman of the board of directors. “We believe his knowledge of and passion for the transportation industry will help ensure the success of all our businesses.”
