The Louisiana Motor Transport Association has established a leadership training program that helps develop state leadership to meet future challenges and growth in the transportation industry.

Under the direction of Chairman of the Board and Dupre Logistics CFO Doug Place, Leadership LMTA connects leadership class members with elected officials and those who regulate trucking in the state and the nation.

"By giving access and education to the up and coming leaders in the logistics industry, we are not only reinvesting in our state, but in our future," says Cathy Gautreaux, LMTA Executive Director.

The first Leadership LMTA class consists of 19 selected individuals from throughout the state. This inaugural class will complete a series of training and educational opportunities focused on motor carrier compliance, statewide legislative affairs, national legislative affairs, and leadership development.

The first session on motor carrier compliance was held March 24 at the State Police headquarters with presentations by Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation Sherri LeBas, Mike Edmonson, Colonel of the Louisiana State Police, State Police department heads, Joey House of the FMCSA, and representatives from the Louisiana Department of Revenue and Office of Motor Vehicles.

"A cornerstone of Dupre's corporate philosophy is to engage and cultivate leadership from within," says Doug Place, chairman of the board of the Louisiana Motor Transport Association. "Our goal at LMTA is to help trucking companies develop leaders for their own future and also for LMTA's future."
