Volvo Trucks North America has honored Truck Enterprises as its U.S. Dealer of the Year for 2009 and Mackay's Volvo Truck Centre as the Canada Dealer of the Year.

The dealers were singled out for their performance in new truck and parts sales, Volvo engines, customer service and investment in facilities, according to Volvo.

Truck Enterprises of Harrisonburg, Va., was founded in 1961 and has been a Volvo Truck dealer since 1987. The dealership features an 87,000 square-foot facility with 36 service bays, 10 body shop bays and 86 employees. Jim Hartman serves as the dealer principal.

Mackay's Volvo Truck Centre of Truro, Nova Scotia, was founded in 1980 by David Mackay, dealer principal, and his father. Over the years, it has grown from a small three-bay shop to two locations with a total of 30 service bays and 75 employees.

"It's great to acknowledge and reward a job well done, especially in the challenging times our industry has faced recently," said Ron Huibers, senior vice president of sales and marketing.
