The American Transportation Research Institute is collecting data from fleets to measure the safety and operational impacts of the hours-of-service rules.
ATRI's New Survey to Analyze HOS Rules

ATRI's analysis of that data will provide input to the upcoming HOS rulemaking process. The data collection is part of a larger HOS rules analysis that ATRI originally initiated in 2004. The results of ATRI's first HOS study were specifically cited by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in its earlier rulemaking.

Carriers are asked to provide overall safety performance data for 2009 as well as specific data regarding use of the 11- and 34-hour provisions. ATRI has made its survey available online, and it can be accessed at www.atri-online.org.
