The Evans Network of Companies has acquired the container drayage, domestic truckload, and brokerage assets of Land Transportation and Phoenix Transit and Logistics.

The deal includes an additional 25 new agent partners, rounding out the number of Evans' service center locations to more than 100 across the U.S. In addition, the two companies will add 250 drivers to Evans Network. The company did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition.

The Schuylkill Haven, Pa.-based Evans Network provides transportation and logistics services in the intermodal container and trailer drayage, van truckload and flatbed markets encompassing Evans Delivery Company, West Motor Freight, All Points Transport Corp., Hale Intermodal Trucking, Century Express, and DM Transportation Management Services.

As part of the company's green initiative, Evans Network will integrate the independent contractors' power equipment from both companies into its retrofitting programs. Evans Network is currently installing diesel multistage filters and diesel oxidation catalyst on the equipment of owner-operators at the Ports of Virginia. The company plans on implementing a similar program in the Port of Charleston in November.
