Bridgestone Canada is requesting nominations for the Bridgestone Canadian Truck Hero Award, as the deadline is less than two months away.

"We should not let heroic highway acts go unrecognized," said Jim West, general manager, commercial products for Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions, a division of BSCA.

The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2009. The award honors trucking professionals who have gone beyond the call of duty to lend a helping hand to someone in need while on the road.

The recipient will receive a $3,000 check, as well as a specially-commissioned trophy and a two-day expense-paid trip for two to the award ceremony in November held in Toronto. The employer of the award recipient, along with a guest, will also receive an expense-paid trip to attend the award ceremony. Bridgestone Canada will also donate $3,000 to the winner's charity of choice.

Drivers can be nominated if they operate a truck with 14 wheels or more and have demonstrated courage, quick thinking and integrity in the face of an emergency.
